Talented Mancunians take over the City
On Friday (30th November), Young Manchester hosted an exclusive event at Mayfield for talented young Mancunians, in collaboration with JD.
The event concluded a city-wide search for talented young people, living in Manchester’s 32 wards, which launched in April 2018. Young Manchester collaborated with JD with the aim to celebrate youth in the city and create an opportunity for young people aged 16-19 to showcase their individual talents. All applicants were invited to attend the event, with a selected few chosen by the Young Manchester team to perform on the night, which included a mix of dancers, singers, rappers, musicians, gymnasts and spoken word poets.
Justin Watson, Director of Young Manchester commented,
“The event was a great experience, and one we are really proud to have created in partnership with a world famous youth brand like JD. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to give young people in the City the chance to showcase their talents in front of their peers, and to have celebrated the passion, energy and talent of this wonderful city.”
Stephen White, Group Marketing Director for JD said,
“Manchester is special to us; it’s where the JD story began so it was important for us to give something back. It was great to see talented young people come together in one place and enjoy the experience of being involved with such a unique event.”
Councillor Luthfur Rahman, Executive Member for Schools, Culture and Leisure for Manchester City Council said,
“The event showed once again just how talented our young people in Manchester are and also reminded us how important it is for all young people to be given the chance to take part in regular cultural and sports activities alongside their academic studies.”
The event also celebrated the charity’s first birthday after a successful year since its launch on 30th November 2017.
