Young Manchester has collaborated with JD Sports fashion PLC to search for Manchester’s most talented young people.
JD X Young Manchester will give young Mancunians, living within Manchester’s 32 wards, a platform to showcase their talents, whether they are a singer, artist, budding entrepreneur or gardener.
The collaboration between Young Manchester and JD Sports fashion PLC is looking to engage with young people across the City of Manchester and highlight the varied talents of young Mancunians. The aim of the initiative is to encourage Manchester’s youth to be proud of their communities and give something back through social action initiatives and their own unique talents.
The campaign will conclude at an exclusive event later this year, where 32 finalists will be chosen to take part and showcase their talents LIVE!
Nigel Wilson, Chair of Young Manchester said,
“Our collaboration with JD is exceptional – we’re unbelievably proud to be associated with one of the biggest brands dedicated to young people. I hope Mancunians see what an amazing opportunity JD X Young Manchester is to get involved with and reach out to their friends and family to get involved too.’
‘We have a group of passionate young people on board to help us to deliver and identify talent in the City. We want them to communicate the importance of social action and the impact youth led initiatives has in all communities, to the young people they meet during the search.”
Stephen White, Group Marketing Director of JD Sports Fashion PLC commented,
“We’re taking this campaign to the very roots of the communities that we trade in to give young people a platform. Our aim is to find the best talent and give Manchester’s youth the opportunity to showcase their skills.”
The search is open to young people aged 16 – 19 who live in Manchester and up to 25 years for those who consider themselves to have a disability.
To enter, applicants must make 90 second long video showing their talent and upload it onto the Young Manchester website.
The finale event will bring together music, sports and art with headline VIPs to create money-can’t-buy experiences for young people in the City of Manchester. More details about the event will be revealed in the coming months.
